We continue with the vegetarian food hunt in suburban Hougang. The Hainanese Village Centre has two vegetarian stalls, Shan Yuan and Tian Ting, on its second storey. As Shan Yuan looks like a more popular stall with its long queue, we decide to give it a try.
Minced Meat Noodles
This is hands down the most delicious minced meat noodles in Singapore. The noodles are really chewy and bouncy. The stall does not skim on ingredients including ample slices of mushroom, beancurd skin and mock meat. Special mention goes to the mock meat with its crunchy texture. We wolfed up one bowl and could have swallowed another. It is that good!
Ipoh Hor Fun
The dish has the same set of ingredients as the minced meat noodles. The difference is that it comes with the Kway Teow in gravy.
The stall literally dumps plenty of mock vegetarian stuff into the dish. The prawn soup is not bad.
The Kueh Chup is of average quality.
We think it is worth the exact efforts to get to the Hainanese Village Centre in Hougang to try out the minced meat noodles!
The fastest way to get to the Hainanese Centre is to take Bus 113 or 115 from the former Kovan Bus Interchange.
