NEX is a popular shopping destination for residents in the Serangoon district. Unfortunately, there is no vegetarian eateries in the shopping centre. Fortunately, there are 2 vegetarian eateries just a short walk away from the shopping centre. Today we will focus on Miao Shan.

Nasi Brayani

The rice serving is big and adequately cooked. The vegetables (including carrot and potatoes) taste great. The curry gravy is really spicy. My only complaint is that the mock mutton tastes stiff.

Quality: 3.5/5
Price: $3.50

Chicken Rice

The big hearty rice serving comes with sliced mock gluten chicken meat, cooked cabbage and sweet spicy chilli sauce. It is really value for money.

Quality: 3.5/5
Price: $3

Prawn Noodles

This is another above average dish from Miao Shan Serangoon with big serving of noodles and ingredients such as sliced mock prawns.

Quality: 3.5/5
Price: $3

Nasi Lemak

The Nasi Lemak is the weakest link among its dishes. Miao Shan again is not stingy with their rice. However, the ingredients, including fried tofu, mock ham and fish, taste bland and did not enhance its flavour.

Miao Shan Serangoon offers a variety of value for money vegetarian food. Unfortunately, it only opens till 1.30pm. Nevertheless, there is another vegetarian eatery besides Miao Shan, which opens till 7pm. Given a choice between the two eateries, Miao Shan definitely serves better food.

If you are arriving by MRT, you should leave from the Circle Line exit. You should walk out of the NEX shopping centre towards the NTUC learning centre. At the end of the NUTC centre, there is a pedestrian crossing. You will see Miao Shan after the pedestrian crossing.
